1947

In June of 1947, with a knapsack on my back, I took off from Manasquan, New Jersey on a bus, hitch-hike trip through 27 states and parts of Canada.  I turned 17 at Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico.  It was an incredible adventure and taught me many survival skills for life on the road.
